Happy New Year Everyone!  Check out these three upcoming events….
  • African American Heritage Celebration Planning Meeting – Wow, 2011 got here fast, and the planned African American Heritage Celebration (AAHC) is just around the corner. We will be holding our first planning meeting of the African American Heritage Celebration Committee on Saturday, January 8th at 10:00AM at Einstein Bagel on Rt 40 in Ellicott City. PAAS is excited about the opportunity to showcase our heritage to  Mt. Hebron & the surrounding community.  The show is just seven weeks away! Bring your ideas, energy and enthusiasm as we kick-off the planning for the event.
  • Four Steps to Effective Communication – will be presented by Jean Lewis – HCPSS Family and Community Outreach Specialist.  Please join the Black Student, Family, and CommUNITY Network, Inc. (BSFCN) in partnership with HCPSS Family and Community Outreach Program and learn about:  what to say to get the best results, how to effectively communicate your concerns & when you need to intervene in order to advocate for your child.  Wednesday, January 12, 2011, 6:30PM to 9:00PM at the Faulkner Ridge Center, 10598 Marble Faun Court, Columbia, MD  21044.  Please register by Friday, January 7th by calling 410-313-6794 or by forwarding this form to jean_lewis@hcpss.org.  Childcare, homework assistance (up to grade 5) and pizza will be provided.
  • PAAS Monthly Meeting – Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in the MTHHS media center at 7:00PM

Our goal is to close the academic achievement gap and to push our students to ensure that they are maximizing their educational opportunity. Each year we sponsor events and programs to help support and encourage our students and the greater Mt. Hebron community.
